GENERAL PROMOTION

Establishment (Foundation Date, General Structure of the Program)

Çankırı Karatekin University, Çerkeş Vocational School was opened in 2015, and the Elderly Care Program was opened in 2022.

It started education and training in the 2022-2023 academic year. Our program is within the scope of formal education and the language of education is Turkish. The aim of the program is to be aware of the rapid aging of society; is to bring in our country young people equipped with basic knowledge and skills, who can look at old age holistically with its health, social, psychological, economic, individual and social aspects, can participate in community-based studies by integrating with the elderly. There is a need for trained technicians trained to care for elderly patients in the field of health. The elderly care program meets this need.

In our country, which is rapidly advancing towards becoming a very old society, it is of great importance to raise qualified, questioning, self-renewing, productive and innovative professionals trained in this field.

Students are accepted with the Higher Education Institutions Exam conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center.

Rules for Recognition of Prior Learning

In Turkey and abroad in higher education institutions from Çankırı Karatekin University For students wishing to transfer to Higher Education Institutions and Bachelors Degree Level Between Programs in Transition, double major international institutions with minor Transfer of Credit to our university with the Regulation on the Principles relating to transfer set by the Senate Assessment Conditions apply .

Horizontal Transfer Quotas are announced by the Higher Education Council. Evaluation is; It is made by the commissions formed in faculties and colleges and announced by the relevant committees.

Qualification Requirements and Rules

This degree is awarded to students who have completed all the courses in the curriculum in at least 2 years, successfully completed their internship, provided a minimum of 120 ECTS credits and a GPA of at least 2.00 / 4.00.

Program Profile (Purpose of the Program, Structure of the Program, Areas of Orientation, Departmental Facilities)

The aim of the Elderly Care program is to train health technicians who are lacking in the field of elderly care practice. Due to the increase in the elderly population in the world and in our country, the need for trained personnel in elderly care has increased. In this direction, the number of associate degree programs in elderly care technicians is increasing in the world. Providing care for the elderly person in line with the physical, mental and social needs of the Elderly Care Technicians, ensuring the participation of the elderly, family and society in the care, giving care to the elderly person at home or in cooperation with the health team members in the institution, is necessary for patient and employee safety during the care process. Elderly Care Technicians have main duties such as taking precautions, improving health within the framework of care practices and providing quality care to elderly individuals.

Basic Program Achievements

1. Have a general knowledge of basic health sciences and can use it in their profession when necessary.

2. Have sufficient background on the subjects required by the field, gain theoretical and applied knowledge in these fields.

3. With the knowledge gained in the field of Elderly Care, they can realize the social, physical and psychological changes and needs of the elderly, identify the problems and develop solutions.

4. Recognizes, uses and maintains the physical environment, tools, information and communication technologies related to the field.

5. As an individual with lifelong learning awareness, he/she can be sensitive to the events on the agenda of the society and the world and can follow the developments.

6. Can work in collaboration with other healthcare team members and professionals from different disciplines in practices related to elderly care.

7. Knows and acts appropriately to the laws, regulations and legislation regarding their duties, rights and responsibilities as an individual.

8. Knows the rules of healthy nutrition, adequate and balanced nutrition, nutrition principles in the elderly, the importance of nutrition in old age, common health problems in old age and nutrition principles in diseases.

9. Contributes to projects and activities for the social environment in which he lives, with a sense of social responsibility, and independently carries out a task assigned to him.

10. Have basic knowledge about caring for the elderly with special conditions and diseases.

11. Have basic knowledge about first aid, public health and environmental protection.

12. It can communicate effectively with the family members and relatives of the elderly person, protects the elderly from abuse, and informs the family and relevant institutions about this issue.

13. Have basic drug information, regulate the drugs used by the elderly, provide mutual communication and feedback with team members in order to reduce inappropriate drug use in the elderly.

14. Provides care services within the framework of ethical values and principles.

15. It can help to implement the planned rehabilitation program of the elderly.

Employment Profiles of Graduates

Carried out in Municipalities, Hospitals, Non-Governmental Organizations and Private Institutions where elderly care services are carried out; They are employed in nursing homes,

nursing homes for the elderly, hostels for the weak, day care centers for the elderly, and home care services.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Vertical transfer of graduates from Vocational Schools to undergraduate programs that are a continuation of their fields; The provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Graduate Education of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs are applied. The quotas allocated by the university are reported to the OSYM Presidency. These declared quotas and conditions are announced in the Vertical Transfer Guide prepared by ÖSYM. Placement procedures are carried out centrally by OSYM according to the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam.

Graduates of the Elderly Care Program can transfer to Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Gerontology and Nursing departments with the Vertical Transfer Exam organized by OSYM.

Exams, Measurement and Evaluation

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the course introduction form prepared by the relevant faculty member / s and included in the information package. The relevant articles of Çankırı Karatekin University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation and Çerkeş Vocational School Teaching and Examination Application Principles are applied regarding the exams and course success grades.

Graduation Conditions

This degree is awarded to students who have completed all the courses in the curriculum in at least 2 years, successfully completed their internship for 30 business days (6 weeks), provide a minimum of 120 ECTS credits, and have a GPA of at least 2.00 / 4.00.Çalışma
